Young H. Choi, M.D.

Dr. Young H. Choi is a widely renowned ophthalmologist who serves the central Alabama community as the chief eye surgeon at inVision Ophthalmology Birmingham. He specializes in general ophthalmology, which includes laser vision correction, glaucoma treatment (MIGS), and cataracts removal. Dr. Choi makes a constant effort to provide each and every patient with the best experience and education to keep them feeling at ease and knowledgeable about their condition and care. With a board certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Choi has been recognized as one of Alabama's top eye surgeons. 

Once he received his medical degree, Dr. Choi went on to complete a general surgery internship at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. After he wrapped up his training, Dr. Choi was accepted to an ophthalmology residency at Loma Linda Medical Center in Southern California, which was followed by a focused fellowship in refractive surgery to learn contemporary LASIK techniques. Dr. Choi continues to stay on top of the latest developments in the industry by learning all about the latest technologies and approaches for ocular care.

A highly skilled ophthalmologist, Dr. Choi has a comprehensive knowledge of the complex anatomy of the eye and has developed techniques that allow him to accurately diagnose, manage, and treat a range of conditions and diseases. He has performed thousands of eye surgeries, including laser cataract removal, refractive eye corrections (like LASIK), selective laser trabeculectomy (SLT), and goniotomy for congenital glaucoma. Dr. Choi is also the first ophthalmologist in Alabama to use the Zeiss VisuMax® femtosecond laser for precision refractive surgery.
